Piano Tuition

I offer piano lessons for beginners to Grade 6, for students of all ages. I am keen for students to learn a variety of music, including music from outside of the exam syllabus (if you want to take exams). I will be guided by you as to what you would like to learn and play, and how seriously you would like to take it. For those wanting to study for exams, I teach both the ABRSM and the Trinity syllabus.

Theory Tuition

Theory is a very important part of a musician’s knowledge, and although it is commonly left until the last minute, it can be learnt in a much less painful way if it is learnt from the start. I teach theory to Grade 8 and will set, mark and debrief practice papers.

Aural Training

As with theory, aural abilities are also important, and are a part of every musical exam. I teach aural as part of piano lessons, but for those needing/wanting further help, I offer training lessons and practice tests.

Exam and Exam Rehearsal Accompanist

I have played for numerous instrumental exams, and for all instruments. I will play for both the exam and for as many rehearsals in advance as the student would like. If you have an exam pianist in mind, but would like someone else to practice with you before you meet them, I will be more than happy to rehearse with you.

Scholarships, Entrance Exams and Auditions

I will rehearse and play for the student for school scholarships, entrance exams and auditions.

Recorder Tuition

I have taught a number of school recorder groups, including teaching children who are absolute beginners.

Rehearsal Pianist / Show and Musical Performer

I have been a rehearsal pianist for a number of local groups and societies, including most recently the Solihull Gang Show and Godspell with the Crossed Keys. I also play the clarinet and would be interested in performing for musicals.

Music Arrangement

I am able to arrange music for a wide variety of ensembles. I am proficient with Sibelius, a notation programme that allows for easy reading.

Dance Lesson Pianist

I am able to play a variety of music for dance lessons so that the children can practice to live music.

Event Ensemble Pianist

I and a combination of daughters will perform string and piano ensemble music for events such as weddings.
